AR-GOV: Love wins Democratic nomination for Arkansas governor [View all]
Sen. Fred Love will face Republican Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders in November after defeating Supha Xayprasith-Mays in the Democratic primary election Tuesday night.
Love, a term-limited lawmaker from Mabelvale, had a substantial lead over Xayprasith-Mays, a Bentonville businesswoman, shortly after polls closed Tuesday evening, and The Associated Press called the race around 8:30 p.m.
“Thank you to those who voted for me,” Love said at a Democratic watch party in Little Rock Tuesday night. “I truly appreciate your support and I look forward to serving you in November.”
Love also congratulated Xayprasith-Mays on the campaign she ran.
