69. Yes, there was an odd parallel messaging:

"Vote for Talarico, he's more likely to win".

So people voted with their heads, not their hearts.

I voted for Jasmine, because I feel in this climate we need someone who is fiesty and a fighter. I voted with my heart.

Mr Talarico is too much like Mr Rogers.
I felt the messaging: "Texas won't elect a black woman" was not fair. If they won't elect a black woman, they likely aren't going elect Mr Rogers. Maybe in another state, they would elect a Mr Rogers type as a US senator, but not in Texas.

I feel that Jasmine would have brought out down ballot voters. (No one seems to think of down ballot voters when making these decisions...duh)

If the messaging group is following about how some down ballot AA's lost their seats last night: We had all these new voters who didn't know the candidates.

You could tell that voters did things like:
1. Vote for the Latina
2. In the case of the two Latinas, vote for the Latina with the most Latina sounding name. (For instance, don't vote for hyphenate with Anglo name)
3. In the case of a Latina and Latino, vote for the Latina
4. In the case of a Latino (includes Latinas) versus a white sounding name, vote for the Latino. (If they don't know the candidate, they may not know that the person with white the sounding name is actually black and a well respected incumbent.
5. If the case of numerous Latinas, vote for the first name on the ballot

I don't think the Jasmine effect had an impact on down ballot races. Down ballots thrive on lack of information.

However, I saw the results but I think many are hurt and are feeling that they were rejected because they were black. Their feelings are truly hurt because they were good public servants. But the voters didn't know this.

However, with down ballot, these new voters just didn't know that the down ballot candidates were incumbents. These new voters don't know know that John Jones is the incumbent and a great career as a judge, and that someone named Valentina Gomez goes around shooting people with guns is the challenger. (Valentina Gomez is a real person who was an R candidate who lost, but put a D next to her name and walla)

This is the real Valentina Gomez

We are now stuck in a runoff in my state rep race with who is basically another Valentina Gomez who is just vile, vile, vile..

She was convicted of corruption a few years ago. She is a stalker with the worse reputation. She is so bad that she was banned by a judge for attending any political events (she couldn't even attend rallies or conventions or meetings) . She has three sons who pistol whipped a cop and pistol whipped EMS.

Unfortunately, her conviction was overturned. So, she was free to run for office again and attend politic events again.

She was the only latina on the ballot and her name was first name on the ballot. There were two other Latino men, and one black guy with a mixed Latino/Anglo name. (In this case, the black guy is not a viable candidate as he is a perennial candidate who has mental health issues. He often runs as a Repubiican. He's just not all there).

The two Latino men were the ony viable candidates.
No white candidates were on the ballot.

Her behavior at the polls was deplorable. She brought those sons with her. No one thought she had a chance because everyone knew her and knew how bad she was. But these new voters obviously didn't know or remember her. Although, she was plastered all over the news a few years ago, uninformed voters were not paying attention or didn't remember her.

She has stalked me in the past because I was supporting a candidate who had a campaign manager, who managed our sheriff's and DA's campaigns since she hates the DA and the sheriff (she hates law enforcement who holds her accountable)..... She's a psychopath, but she's a latina and her name was first on the ballot.

She ran for sheriff 6 years ago and got 12% of the vote in the Democratic primary.

In this cycle, we thought she had no chance because everyone knew and remembered her.

But here we are: The voters who voted for her in this race, obviously did not remember her or didn't know who she was.....

She's so bad, that I may need to delete this post. She's a stalker...but you get the idea.

Anyway, this bat shit crazy, violent woman is a runoff. All because of her name!!

Sorry so wordy!!!
