(8,243 posts)Yes, against 'Semites', but who are they, exactly?
Is their identity based on religion, language, or nationality?
Israelis are a mixed bunch, a lot have dual citizenship, English is one of the dominant languages there, and a lot are of religions not based on Christianity.
What is the opposite term that someone in Iran could use to collectively describe an enemy country that uses a language or religion not common to Iran?
Iran:
Languages = Persian (Farsi) is the official language of Iran, while Azeri, Kurdish, Luri, Arabic, and several other languages are spoken regionally and by minority communities.
Religions = Iran is predominantly Shia Muslim, with Sunni Muslims and small recognized religious minorities including Christians, Jews, and Zoroastrians.
We tend to think of both Israelis and Iranians as being a uniform population, but it just isn't so.
Just like America isn't.
People oversimplify to absurdity, ie Israel is Christian, Iran is Muslim.
And the inference?
Christianity good, Muslim bad.
