If you saw what happened to New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina, that was a very complicated thing. Keep in mind this comparison: As of 2024, the metropolitan New Orleans has just under a million people. Tehran's metropolitan area is 18 times that much. Are they expecting that somehow they can just evacuate 17.67 million people?
Also, the US and a lot of people seem to forget why Iran became what it is, and a big reason for that is the US government. The US government overthrew Mohammad Mossadegh because it refused to cave to western demands in regards to oil. We seem to forget that. It's really one of the big what ifs. What if the US never overthrew Mossadegh? Also, keep in mind, he was dealing with Fada'iyan-e Islam, which as you might guess, is an Islamic fundamentalist group, and one of Ayatollah Khomeini's main supporting groups. So the US is not innocent in regards to how Iran became what it is.
