It is my understanding that racism is inconsistent with Masonic philosophy. Nevertheless, Masonic lodges in the small town south are very much segregated. The AA masons tend to belong to Prince Hall lodges while everyone else belongs to F&AM lodges. (I don't know if this segregation occurs outside the south.)
Racism is also inconsistent with Christian philosophy but KKK members claim to be protestant Christian.
As a result of growing up in the south, I tend to not be shocked by racists being in organizations with anti-racist philosophies.
