There does not seem to be a good scenario for democrats, no matter what.

If we manage to convince the GOP to restore the subsidies for the ACA past when they were slated to expire (in 2026) they will be restored to go beyond the 2026 elections, and the republicans will not suffer any consequences at the polls other than the already bad and deteriorating economy. On top of that, to get it restored, we may have to shut down the government, another thing that we will be blamed for. A double whammy.
