Sure Carney could wait a week or two and see if his tantrum ends, but at some point he’s going to get tired of being the recipient of endless Trump noogies.

As for the long game, by this time next year, both the Canadian and US economies will likely be in recession, although the US potentially in a deeper one.

Definitely bodes well for the US midterms, not so much for Carney- there’s already talk of a no confidence vote on his yet-to-be-submitted budget, which would trigger another election.

Even a symbolic poke in the nose from Carney to Trump could buy the prime minister some patience from the Canadian people.
