But history shows us that it's not unheard of for the fans and admirers of a candidate who easily wins elections and primaries in a "safe" or mostly-blue district to delude themselves into believing that the safe-district popularity translates into statewide or even national competitiveness. It doesn't. Or, it rarely does. And I think that's what we're seeing here.
