31. Our little town held a community display on the hillside
Wed Jul 1, 2026, 05:54 PM
Wednesday

north of town - a sea of blankets with kids and dogs, worried moms and crying babies. I remember watching the fireflies blinking on and off in lazy waves over the dampish grass in the setting sun. We ate bologna sandwiches and drank iced tea on our blanket, chatting with neighbors. I wonder now about my parents - did they know how perfect it all was? I really hope that somehow they did know. I hope they knew how those sweet, warm summer memories would sustain their little girl some 50 years later.
