1. Crowdfunding the National Debt? OMG! (LOL)

I'm going to reach here and ask if anyone remembers a movie back in the 80's that had a theme (or at least a scene) similar to this. I think it was called "American (something).." I want to remember John Ritter being in it. Anyway, they did a fundraising event on TV for the U.S., much like a March of Dimes Marathon. I thought then, "How ridiculous!" But look here where we are, now in 2025 with trump at the helm of government. So many old movies were almost prescient in how they saw our future (like Idiocracy!). Too bad no one made the connections! LOL!

I remember this movie only because of that one fundraising scene, and probably only then because I HAD to see some sort of stupid comic movie after having seen Amityville Horror at the theater. Just couldn't shake the feelings that movie left me with, and insisted to hubby we see something stupid to try to shake the horror. Little did I know the comedy was presaging the horror in which I'd be living my elder years! ARGH!
