Democrats were way overdue in presenting a popular stance against trump. Newsom recognized a real vulnerability that trump has been displaying for a long time: he can't stand public ridicule of any sort. Harnessing that weakness has been enormously productive; I believe it has contributed to trump's rapidly deteriorating communication skills.

Keep up the good work, Governor!
