I’ve reflected on the decision by eight cowardly Democratic senators to join the Trump and MAGA Continuing Resolution to kick over 20 million Americans off health care. My initial reaction was anger and betrayal. You may have seen the video I made, which has since gone viral with over a million views, where I called out the pathetic behavior of these Democrats.

My anger and feeling of betrayal have not subsided. Nor will they. However, as I reflect on what took place, I am reminded why we started this network with all of you. The MeidasTouch Network is rooted in the power of the people and not any specific political party. Where the Democratic Party fights for the people and defends the values and principles we fight for in this network, they will have our support. Where they betray those values, we will not hesitate to call them out and demand accountability and repercussions for the betrayal—as we did immediately after the vote and throughout the day.

The weakness we saw yesterday from these Democrats is one of the factors that brought us Trump. Full stop. The people—including Democrats, Independents, and even Republicans—made it clear last Tuesday that we don’t want kings in the United States and that the authoritarian regime must be resisted at all times. The people voted for fighters. The unpopularity of the Democratic Party has been tied to its lack of fight, its capitulation, and its failure to stand up unapologetically for the ideals and principles of the party. Trump’s approval is at all-time lows. We need to be strong and powerful against this regime of weakness masquerading as strength.

Despite being very pissed off right now, I am not going to allow that to make me complacent as the leader of this network. What this weekend’s betrayal has done is only reinforce why we started this network. Our goal at this network is not to simply respond and report on the day-to-day news. We need to make generational change, and that includes elevating a new generation of leaders. We need to be the change we all desire and not allow the future to be something that just happens—we need to manifest the future where there will be leaders who fight for all of us.
