I did the same thing. Got it repaired before the recall came out.
I had to contact the general Honda service line, and there was paperwork to fill out
and a bit of a hassle. Your Honda service center has to fill out a form for you too.

I did it all online.

But I stuck with it and got the entire $1800 reimbursed.

I don't remember if the 2018s were recalled or not.
Perhaps not, if you did not get the recall notice.

But the AC units were faulty for the CRVs around that time.
The compressor was bad.

I would call the general national Honda service line.
Or look online.
