In reply to the discussion: Those of you who eat cold cereal, what is your favorite? [View all]CousinIT
(11,844 posts)34. Shredded wheat. No salt. No sugar.
Add your own ingredients: soy milk, regular milk, nut milk, fruit, or whatever sweetener you want (and the amount you want), without the cereal being pre-loaded with it.
Simple, whole grain, lots of fiber. For me, it's that or plain oatmeal, for the same reason.
I hate all the salt and sugar they add to every damn thing in America, including cereal. So it's Shredded Wheat & Bran for me.
Another one I used to eat: Grape Nuts - which is good hot or cold. It contains more additives, but compared to other cereals, it's relatively simple. It does have a chunk of your RDA of sodium in it, though: https://www.consumerreports.org/health/healthy-eating/are-grape-nuts-good-for-you-a1100556283/

Yeah I became a habitual label-reader for that reason. They dump salt in sugar in every damn thing!

Brand name Cheerios. The non-brand name ones taste different. Not bad, just different.
