are getting much more sophisticated and convincing. A few months ago, before my brother-in-law passed, my sister was contacted by fraudsters. I have no idea if they knew that my sister was under extreme stress, not only from her husband's cancer but also two of her best friends had had parents die, one of them also had her son die of cancer and his son had been hospitalized with a psychotic break. At any rate these fraudsters, she spoke with two of them, said that she had had an unpaid red light traffic ticket and an arrest warrant was about to be issued. They both had the regional accent from where she lives. She tried contacting the local sheriff and was put on hold. She made it to the bank when her friend's brother who is an attorney happened to call and she explained what was happening. He was quickly able to get her to come to her senses and realize that it was a scam. But the entire thing was pretty seamless.
