Walmart use to have the wet disinfectant wipes as one enters or exits the store. My Walmart doesn't have these anymore and that's one of the reasons that I purchase the alcohol wipes from Amazon. I bring a few with me to wipe down the handle of the shopping cart if I need to use a cart.
Tops Markets still have the wet disinfectant wipes available upon entering and exiting the store. All stores that have shopping carts should provide the wipes.
Once the Covid pandemic started, any grocery items that were brought into the house was wiped down with cotton balls soaked with rubbing alcohol. There are some grocery items that are impossible to wipe down like netted potato bags and cardboard egg cartons. We still wipe down what we can to this day before putting away the groceries or any general items. If we get a shampoo bottle from the store that is even wiped down before it's put away.
I'm glad that you stood up for yourself and even offered to clean the screen. I would think that there are thousands of costumers touching these screens a day so there's no way that they're "clean", kind of like the gas pump handle. Not everyone washes their hands and some people have sick habits or are actually sick. Better be safe than sorry for sure!
Funny you mention Walmart today, True. I started making a list today for my next big Walmart run or what I call a large haul. I start writing my list so I can make this large haul efficient so it's less often I have to make these trips.
