The anise hyssop is tied with lavender. Its one of the first to come up, it flowers from July until hard frost or freeze, it gets tall and doesnt flop, stays green in dry spells (takes a lot to make it wilt, although it will eventually if its super dry), isnt a bully to other plants, bees love it and reseeds nicely. I have a lot of it around the pool- smells nice and no thorns or harsh stems.
But Im with you on cutting back; its getting to be a lot for me in these later years.

Papaya, pineapple, coconut, and hundreds of bananas. Oops, those are all fruits! Lots of tropiccal flowers.

When we were younger, We had all types of flowers, veggies and plants. I loved having them. As we got older, we cut back
