Listening to Volume channel on Sirius, and they were talking about this a few months ago.
They played several live performance snips over the last 5 to 10 years.
It was quite obvious that he was straining more and more as they progressed through time.
The later snips had him missing notes he NEVER would have missed in the past. Plus, he was hitting LOTS of bailout notes because he knew he wasn't going to hit where he really wanted to go.
I fear it's permanent. I hope I'm wrong!
