A shoplifter shot and killed a security guard at another Giant nearby, so I get the safety concerns.

I get that many people don't have cars, but when I lived in DC I would drive past east DC to go to Wegmans in PG County Maryland. Grocery shopping in DC is less than impressive, with Trader Joes and Whole Foods slightly better than Safeway and Giant and Harris Teeter.
