Voters Approve All Road Millages in August 5 Election [View all]

LANSING — Voters across Michigan showed strong support for road funding in this week’s August 5 Consolidated Election.

According to data from Lansing-based Gongwer News Service, all seven county road millage renewals and four increases on local ballots passed. The increases included adjustments allowed under the Headlee Amendment.

County Road Association of Michigan CEO Denise Donohue said the results show residents value investing in safe, well-maintained roads as lawmakers continue to debate state funding solutions.

The association’s 83 county road agencies manage 75 percent of Michigan’s roads, about 90,500 miles, and nearly 6,000 bridges. They also maintain the state highway system in 63 counties.
