My paternal grandparents homesteaded in 1915, near Conrad. (dial-up warning) [View all]

Last week, a rapidly moving fire traveled about a mile and a half and destroyed the barn that was built in 1930. Also consumed were two other buildings, a grainery and an icehouse.

Fortunately, no humans were injured. two barn cats perished. The house, main shop and the rest of the homestead are ok.
the Conrad Fire department came seven mile to help. The Hutterites and other neighbors also came to help.
