Fargo Commissioner Says Its Disingenuous to Bitch About Company Getting $4.6 Million Subsidy They Said They Dont Need
There were some fireworks at a meeting of Fargos city commission tonight.
The genesis for the controversy was an application made by a company called Aldevron for a $4.6 million payment in lieu of tax (or PILOT) subsidy for an expansion theyre building.
According to the commissions posted agenda, the subsidy would have the company paying no property taxes for five years, and then 50 percent of their property taxes for five more years after that (full agenda embedded below):

That adds up to a more than $4.6 million subsidy over a decade.
When the commission got a chance to discuss the proposal, Commissioner Tony Gehrig asked the companys representative point-blank: If you didnt get the incentive would you still expand?
