I just spent a week around Moab, visiting a variety of parks...Arches, Canyonlands, Dead Horse Mesa, over to Monument Valley. The altitude/thinner air totally exhausted me. I have lived my whole life at sea level. I grew up in Illinois, lived for 20 years in Texas, now live at the Beach in Virginia. I have to say the altitude is what kicked my butt.

The other thing I should mention: there are a lot of off-road tours offered. We took one and the terrain was extremely rough. We got shook around and bounced up and down and if you have any physical problems that could be exacerbated by that, don't do the off-road stuff. I went with my best friend, I am 70, she is 73, and I could tolerate it, but it did her some painful damage due to her arthritis.

Other than that....have fun!! I said Wow about 1500 times, I'm sure!

We stayed at some funky little hotels along the way that were charming, The Red Stone Inn in Moab was rustic and very affordable but comfy.
