Expedia cuts more jobs as travel giant adapts to 'evolving needs' of industry [View all]

Seattle-based online travel company Expedia Group Inc. (Nasdaq: EXPE) has laid off employees.

The company didn't provide specifics on the layoffs, including how many people were let go or what roles. Expedia had 16,500 employees as of the end of 2024.

"To ensure the best traveler experience, we must continually adapt to the evolving needs of our industry and travelers. This requires difficult but necessary decisions such as refining our marketing strategies, improving efficiencies and reallocating resources," an Expedia spokesperson said in a statement.

Expedia in February 2024 announced layoffs to about 1,500 people. Those layoffs included 208 Seattle employees.
