LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Nevada woman accused of trying to vote twice during the presidential election was trying to see if screening processes worked and wasn't trying to commit voter fraud, her lawyer said Thursday.

"It was not a political move," said defense attorney Ozzie Fumo, who appeared before a Las Vegas judge and pleaded not guilty earlier this week on Rubin's behalf. "She looks forward to defending herself."

Rubin, 56, a registered Republican, was arrested Nov. 2 at work at a hotel-casino on the Las Vegas Strip by members of an FBI election integrity task force. She was charged with voting more than once in the same election, a felony carrying a penalty of one to four years in state prison ...

Justice of the Peace Deborah Lippis set an evidentiary hearing Jan. 24.
