Every Apple store has a panel of "geniuses" who can advise you and schedule repairs.
You make an appointment online for particular store at a specific time.

My daughter once had a problem with her laptop after a year or so.
She took it in and they replaced her whole motherboard for free.
She dropped it off at the store and a few days later her repaired laptop was delivered to our home.

Another person, I heard, went to get a replacement battery for his several years old laptop.
The Apple store guy said they were out of that particular battery and don't have a date when new ones will be delivered so they gave him a whole new laptop, current model, for the price of the battery installation.

The Apple stores are great and they are everywhere in the world.
If you're in Japan or China you can take it to the Apple store there for the same service.

Apple products are more expensive but they are very reliable and have stellar service if you have problems.
