The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite (^IXIC) climbed nearly 1% to set its second record close in a row.
All three major averages posted gains for the week.
about 90% of bets are on the Fed cutting rates in September after last weeks disappointing labor data. Next Tuesday, investors will scour the monthly inflation report for clues on the central banks next policy move.
Optimism over a September Fed rate cut has grown since last week's poor labor market data release. Trump's nomination of Miran to serve as a Fed board governor has also fueled speculation that the central bank will be less restrictive in its monetary policy.
Trump says US court ruling against tariff authority 'would be 1929 all over again'
((the Smooth-Hawley Act of 1930's big tariffs were imposed after the Great Depression's start and are widely credited with prolonging the Depression -Progree))
Data from the Treasury Department showed the government brought in $26.6 billion in customs duties in June, an increase from $22.2 billion in May, bringing the tally for the government's fiscal year to $108 billion. Final figures from Treasury for July's tariff-related haul are expected next week. A court ruling could force the government to pay back these receipts.

I'm not a fan of the DOW as it is a cherry-picked collection of just 30 stocks that are price-weighted, which is silly. But since there is an automatically updating embedded graphic, here it is. It takes several, like 6 hours, after the close for it to update, like about 10 PM EDT.
(If it still isn't updated, try right-clicking on it and opening in a new tab. #OR# click on https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/%5EDJI/ ).
The Dow closed Thursday at 43,969, and it closed Friday at 44,176, a rise of 0.5% (207 points) for the day
It closed last Wednesday, July 23, just 4 points below its 45,014 all-time high set in December. But now it's 838 points away from that.
I don't maintain statistics for the DOW like percent up or down since election day, or year-to-date, or from the all-time high etc. like I do for the S&P 500.

DJIA means Dow Jones Industrials Average. It takes about 6 hours after the close to update, so check it after 10 PM EDT
I don't have an embeddable graph for the S&P 500, unfortunately, but to see its graph, click on https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/%5EGSPC/
While I'm at it, I might as well show Oil and the Dollar:
Crude Oil
US Dollar Index (DX-Y.NYB)
If you see a tiny graphics square above and no graph, right click on the square and choose "load image". There should be a total of 3 graphs. And remember that it typically takes about 6 hours after the close before these graphs update.
