5. Permanently replacing striking workers is an existential attack on the union

It's exactly what Reagan did to the traffic control workers after getting them, and other union supporters, to vote Reagan into the presidency.

He told the union this before he was elected: "I pledge to you that my administration will work very closely with you to bring about a spirit of cooperation between the President and the air traffic controllers."

But less than 7 months after taking office, Reagan fired most federal air traffic controllers in the country, destroying the union forever.

Thank God we don't have an idiot like that in office anymore. It takes a very awful man to attack striking workers.
