I dropped in yesterday to "my" Starbucks - yes, the one in the article. I wished the barista well and told him "together we negotiate, alone we beg." He thanked me for my support.

'Eyes are on us': Why Mesa workers are fighting for first unionized Starbucks in Arizona

"Not enough staff and stagnant wages are some of the reasons workers wanted to form a union, said shift supervisor Liz Alanna.

"Workers are expected to fulfill drive-thru orders in under 50 seconds, she said, adding that food sales have grown, which further increases the workload. Starbucks CEO Kevin Johnson said earlier this year that Starbucks has seen higher sales per order as customers order multiple drinks along with food items like breakfast sandwiches and cake pops, The New York Times reported.

“Somewhere in this magical time frame, this extra food has to be cooked and bagged and brought to the window … But there are no extra bodies, no extra ovens. No extra person to help facilitate that,” Alanna said."
