Fischer and Osborn might be in tight race, as both tout union endorsements
By: Aaron Sanderford - September 3, 2024 9:34 pm

OMAHA — Nebraska U.S. Sen. Deb Fischer stopped short Tuesday of acknowledging she is in her most competitive general election race since 2012, when she beat former Gov. and U.S. Sen. Bob Kerrey.

But this week, Fischer didn’t dismiss a poll from Split Ticket and SurveyUSA indicating she holds a 39%-38% lead over nonpartisan Dan Osborn, with 23% of voters undecided.

Fischer has previously called polls showing the race within the margin of error “fake” or out of step with her campaign’s polling, which has shown her with a double-digit lead.

On Tuesday, Fischer said she “takes nothing for granted,” that she prefers official visits to media debates and that she plans to keep asking Nebraskans what they want from their senator.
