The tariff was previously either 25% or 35%. I forget. There are also tariffs on lithium batteries and photovoltaic cells from China.

BYD will be selling into developing countries, getting in early. The latest I've heard is that the quality and technology of their cars are quite impressive. Certainly as good or as better than anything now available here. There are a lot of Teslas here in North Jersey. Even a couple of Cybertrucks. Can't figure out the motivation of owning that one.
