IN 2023 there were 15,300 windmills producing electricity in Texas (26.8% of the annual amount generated there).

For per-turbine leases, landowners can expect to earn between $8,000 and $15,000 annually, depending on the turbine size and location. Option payments, which are paid before construction, can range from $50 to $200 per acre per year, and lease payments can increase significantly once the turbines are operational.

So $10k x 15,300 = $153 mil in payments to landowners annually. That's a lot of $$$
