Missouri COVID cases almost double over November [View all]

COVID cases are climbing nationally and in Missouri, cases have jumped 45% in the last month.

MU Health Care’s Pediatric Infectious Disease Specialist Dr. Christelle Ilboudo said there are some big differences this year as cases rise, compared to last.

Ilboudo said the biggest difference this year is children are now more susceptible to getting COVID. She adds that for young children under the age of five, there is still no vaccine option.

Another big difference Ilboudo said is COVID symptoms for those vaccinated can sometimes be very mild and easy to shrug up to being a simple cold. However, Ilboudo said it’s important to understand even the vaccinated can pass along the virus.
