... some sort of technical incompatibility. It's probably due to licensing, or competition, or some other financial consideration.

We upgraded our monthly subscription to the commercial-free version. (After years and years of DVR-ing to skip commercials... we still prefer to watch TV without them.)

Of course you can't skip them on free services like Peacock... but because it's free, and because we're able to choose and stream Peacock shows "on-demand" ... we think it's a fair trade, so we don't grumble too much.
