6. My old man was a machinist mate on a heavy cruiser in WW2..Normandy, Cherbourg and other fights in the med.

He loved the Navy and loved the life.. He lucked out with no injuries or PTSD...
Me? I really liked the aircraft of the day. I have flown in a basic biplane ww2 trainer and would love to fly in a C-47/DC-3. A B-17 would be a real treat.
I was at a air museum and stood next to one...I just amazed me how these "kids" did what they did in those things.. Just amazing... Hats off to them all.
It's hard to believe 55,500 of those "kids" died trying to complete their missions.
44% loss rate for US bomber command.
War really sucks and we never learn... Insanity...
