6. I took Celexa for years and did fine.

I eventually had to switch to Effexor because my OCD was breaking through. Honestly, I miss the Celexa, but I have to choose my battles. The Effexor does treat the OCD better. IMO, it takes a good six weeks to get the full benefit of SSRIs. Also, I take it on myself to go on a "medication holiday" to get my levels down every once in a while. I simply reduce my dose for a day or two then go back up. Note: This is NOT condoned and I have not told my doctor, but I swear it helps with certain minor side-effects. I've accepted that I will be on some form of anti-depressant for the rest of my life.
