Our family is spread all over the map and we have some birthdays around the holidays, so we move the holidays rather than the holidays moving us.

Since you mentioned traditional Christmas soup, as a kid I attended Italian family feasts each holiday, including the vigil of Christmas, the "Feast of Seven Fishes"

AND I know how to make all this stuff, including the struffoli.

So, living by myself in the woods, when people "forget" to invite me or come visit (other than my daughter, that's two in nine years) they are missing out.

And today or tomorrow is perfect for making my Mom's home-style tomato gravy with meatballs, sausages and braciole. It's actually REAL EASY, and makes every can or jar of store-bought tomato sauce taste like wet cardboard with oregano sprinkled on it.

Just enjoy.

P.S. I know how to make two kinds of struffoli, the fat ones and the little seed-sized ones.
