5. I can't imagine how to clamp the vase...

As it's rather fragile glass with a narrow neck, broad shoulder, and tapers to a smaller base. The pewter bit goes around about a third or so, and reaches from the base to not quite the widest part of the shoulder.

The clamps I have available wouldn't hold between the neck and the shoulder.

That's why I thought of cling wrap.
