Composting in Winter [View all]

Any ideas for this? I habitually save veggie clippings, but in the winter I don't want to trek all the way up the stairs to my composting bin.

Last year I chopped leaves and layered them with the veggie clips, using crates that are similar to the ones milk comes in at the store. I did this all winter long and when spring rolled around, I hoped I would have some partially finished compost, which I did. Not sure if I want to do that again this year, though. I'm ready to try something new.

Wondered if anyone had any ideas for winter composting.
