3. We had a leash-trained cat, too, and yes, it did make him want to bolt out the door.

And I don't know where you live or where you would consider taking your cat, but I live in a small city and no matter where we went--streets or parks--there was always the chance that someone would have an unleashed dog. We had a few close calls, and one where our cat wouldn't have survived if he hadn't been able to climb a tree.

So I think you are doing the right thing by keeping him inside.

Maybe you could try clicker training or more interactive toys?
