Corporal Roderick R. Loop saying goodbye to his son, Pvt William R. Loop, during WWII,
6 mars 1944 Anzio, Rome, Lazio, Italie

This photo, taken on March 6, 1944, in Anzio, Italy, shows Corporal Roderick R. Loop saying goodbye to his son, Pvt William R. Loop. During WWII, father and son joined the U.S. Army together, and both became members of the 191st Tank Battalion. Side by side, they bravely confronted German forces, until March 1944, when Roderick had to leave Italy. Despite facing death on many occasions, father and son both survived the war. Roderick, who also served his country during WWI, passed away on March 5, 1969. His son William, who also fought in the Korean War, died on December 19, 2008.
