But the fans seemed reluctant to mourn the loss.
Instead, many fans couldn’t help but recall how the Karolyis’ training methods often pushed gymnasts to their breaking point. While Nadia Comaneci’s success stands as a testament to Bela’s coaching prowess, several of his other athletes have alleged that his methods could be abusive. Furthermore, the association of former national gymnastics team doctor Larry Nassar with the Karolyi Ranch training facility in Texas added to the controversies surrounding them.
