Batters try to predict what pitches are going to be thrown. If a bet alters that calculation, it may impact the pitch sequence and depending on the circumstances of that game, may affect the outcome of that at-bat.


I don’t know. Maybe that’s over the top. It is still the antithesis of sports competition. As a long time fan, I find the expansive betting, and obsession with nonsense such as what kind of costumes teams will be wearing diminish the value of sports.
