The Bible condones stoning your wife if she isn't a virgin on your wedding night. See Deutoronomy 22. In fact, it's supposed to be a group activity- a public execution done by “the men of the city” on her father’s doorstep. Since the woman’s father, brothers and husband aren't explicitly excused from participating, they are thereby implicitly expected to participate. If you wanted to be legalistic about it, that's not really corporal punishment, or “beating your wife.” And since she wasn't a virgin, then the marriage is invalid and she's not really your wife.

Deutoronomy 22 also says that if a betrothed virgin is raped within the city walls, but nobody hears her cry out, then she shall be stoned to death (because, ya know, she was asking for it and liked it). If it happened outside the city, then her rapist shall be killed.

Deutoronomy 25 says that the hand of a woman who intercedes in a fight between her husband and another man must be cut off if she touched the other man’s “junk.” Again, that's not beating your wife, just chopping her hand off. “Show no mercy,” is what Moses says God says.

Deutoronomy 13 says that you must kill your wife if she tries to get you to worship any god but The Great Jehovah.

Yes, religion is all about kindness and gentleness, I see...
