The Pope recognizes that there is nothing to be done about this and other scandals. He cannot control even his own priesthood. He has thrown up his hands, after washing them clean in the holy water basin.

The corruption within the hierarchy of the Roman Catholic Church cannot be ended. Even the Pope recognizes that.
