You say the reason yourself:

You might be a bit excised by the wars that have been fought and the blood that has been shed over a book of stories though.


The fact so much evil has been done in the name of its God is certainly why it matters. The fact so many people still cling to it and use passages from it to justify discrimination is why it matters.

If all those people were to realize it's nothing more than a book of fairy tales and stop using it to try to control other people's lives the world would be a better place.
