10. My mother was born on December 7th,

just way earlier than Pearl Harbor. It was an inside joke in the family and one time my next-oldest brother arranged for flowers to be delivered on her birthday, with the note "Happy Pearl Harbor Day."

The delivery person said to her when he handed them over, "I'm sorry for your loss." We thought it was funny at the time, but he had no idea what it meant. So, I feel a little sorry for him that he misinterpreted it, but maybe he would have laughed had he known the truth behind the note
