I do not believe the meaning of that word is clear to you. They wanted one thing, but got another. They tried to cause one thing, but ended up making things even worse. So, in this case the real "irony" is that those folks who thought it was a good idea to NOT support the Democratic party's nominee end up hurting themselves, their families, their relatives, and a cause that was (supposedly) important to them. But obviously less important than trying to take revenge on the Democratic party.

Yes, they were "focused on" juvenile behavior of name-calling and idiotic behavior of kneecapping and voter suppression... seeking to harm the Democrats with no regard on how it would actually play out. At this point, these folks have nobody to blame except themselves.

But I'm sure they'll find ways to blame everyone EXCEPT where the blame actually belongs: with themselves.
