1. Why is this a "shock", exactly? Or were they just using the word "shock" as clickbait?

In fact I know quite a few people who describe themselves as progressive and who are not at all part of the "Bernie Vibe" or "Bernie Vibe Shift" or anything "Bernie" at all. It seems to be the norm rather than the exception.

And as far as Lemon is concerned, this is about as "shocking" as someone telling me that he's gay.
