Am I imagining things? [View all]

I used to have a commercial pilots license, and currently live on a lake and take my boat out frequently, so over the years I've come to depend on accurate weather forecasts. As time went progressed I've seen weather forecasting get better and better as our weather scientists learned more and had better forecasting tools.

Now, suddenly, it seems to me that weather forecast accuracy has taken a hit. Some days are forecast to have light wind yet when that day comes the wind is howling. Sometimes there might be a forecast for overcast skies (good for fishing) but when the day arrives there's not a cloud in the sky.

Maybe I'm imagining things, but since Eloon forced NOAA to cut back on data gathering it seems like weather forecasting has become less accurate. Is it just me?
